THE Directors
Stephanie Schmidt has been the band director in Madisonville for 21 years. A piano and trumpet specialist, Mrs. Schmidt was born in the small town of Polo, Illinois.
Mrs. Schmidt received her academic training at Millikin University in Decatur, Illinois, where she graduated Magna Cum Laude in 1987. She is in her 36th year as a Texas Music Educator having previously taught at both Marsh Middle School and W. T. White High School in Dallas. In her 15 years in Dallas she taught choir, band, drill team, color guard, percussion and directed 12 musical productions.
The high school band in Madisonville has grown significantly under the direction of Mrs. Schmidt. In 2002 there were 25 High School band members...in 2022 there are 150 currently enrolled in marching band. The Madisonville Varsity Band has consistently earned the University Interscholastic League Concert Sweepstakes Award. The Mustang Band under Mrs. Schmidt's direction has also performed at Pearl Harbor in Honolulu, Hawaii, marched in the Holiday Bowl Game, and marched at Walt Disneyland in California.
Mrs. Schmidt was nominated for Teacher of the Year for the Madisonville 2021-2022 school year. She was awarded the Chalkboard Award for excellence in teaching from the Bedias Lodge #651. She has also received awards from the US Army All-American Band, and a Commended Honors award from the national Wind Band Honors competition.
Mrs. Schmidt spends a majority of her time with the band, however the true loves of her life are her 3 children - Fred, Liberty and Harmony - and her wonderful husband Fred.

Mr. Brown grew up in Ohio and earned his degree in Music Education from Bowling Green State University. Mr. Brown currently teaches at the High School, teaching Marching Band, Jazz Band, and the Junior Varsity Concert Band and teaches at the Junior High, teaching 6th-8th grade percussion. Mr. Brown also plays the drums for Madisonville Christian Fellowship and is an Educator Artist with Innovative Percussion. Mr. Brown has been with the Mustangs since fall of 2009. In what little down time he has, he enjoys woodworking and spending time with his wife and three kids.

Mr. Kidder grew up in Lafayette, Louisiana where he graduated from Lafayette High School. He received his Bachelor of Music Education from Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge. Mr. Kidder taught in Baton Rouge for five years before coming to Madisonville. Mr. Kidder has been with the Mustangs since the Fall of 2015. He teaches the Junior High Concert Band, Symphonic Band, Wind Ensemble, Beginning Woodwinds, Beginning Brass, and assists with the High School Band.
Mr. Kidder likes to spend time with his wife Megan and sons Ethan and Nate. He enjoys cooking and watching LSU football.

Miss Kitchen grew up in Bryan, Texas, and received her Bachelor of Music Education from Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches. This is Miss Kitchen's first year with the Mustangs and her first year in education. She teaches the Junior High Concert Band, Symphonic Band, Beginner Flute, Beginner Saxophone, and assists with the High School Band.
When she's not teaching, Miss Kitchen likes to spend time with her family, 3 dogs, and boyfriend, Evan.
